THE BUSYHEAD FESTIVAL INVITATION

Project Overview

The Busyhead Festival is a two day event that I dreamed up with Noah Kahan’s nonprofit, The Busyhead Project, as my inspiration. My goal was to create a physical post card that would be mailed out as an invitation to this festival, as well as a physical website that would be able to provide participants with more information. Through this project, I aimed explore animation, illustration, and UX/UI design.

Digital Component

Animation was the primary focus of my digital component. I went through multiple variations of this whimsical campfire animation, traced his signature for his name, and then separated out multiple of the elements so that they could be edited individually.

Full Animation

After the animation was complete, I was able to build it into a working prototype of what the festival website would look like. This is also how I planned to display the rest of the festival lineup, including many of my favorite artists, as well as link The Busyhead Project’s website. After experimenting with a few different animations to display the other artists, I decided on a more traditional lineup poster that would call back to the physical postcard.

Physical Component

The physical component was illustrated completely in Procreate. The scene is set to emulate the feeling of music by a campfire, and mountains divide the card down the center to reference the song The View Between Villages by Noah Kahan. Using screenshots of handwritten song lyrics that Kahan reposted, I mimicked his handwriting on the back of the card to give the invitation a personal touch.
